double exposure
reflection
What images did you select for your double exposure? For my double exposure, I decided to combine a photo from the painting with light with the portraits.
How do the objects relate compositionally? Both contain the patterns from the painting with light project.
How did you manipulate and modify each image? On each image, I added the photo with light essay image to the foreground or background of the portrait. In one, I made the patterns from the painting with light image the background of a back-lit image, creating an illusion around the subject. In the second, I made the painting with light image overlay on the subject's face, creating what seems like war-paint.
What steps did you take to merge layers to create a unified image? I made the overlaying image's opacity lower and erased the parts of the image I didn't want visible.
How do your images relate conceptually? Both images relate conceptually because both have an illusion created by the lines from the painting with light photo.
What concept, idea or meaning does your double exposure convey? Both images create a sense of triumph. In one, the subject is surrounded by a background that emphasizes her. In the other, it creates a sense of triumph and mystery, with what looks like war-paint on her face.
